Boxed: Class of 2006

Every high school yearbook has a single photo of the entire graduating class standing in a cluster, and the photo is traditionally taken from the roof of the high school. There had been problems with this before at my school as the students in the front would have the prime real-estate and the students in the back would barely be seen. The yearbook editor would often have to spend hours editing out inappropriate hand gestures and the cameras back then did not have a high enough resolution to capture enough detail to print a full tabloid spread.

As I was involved with the yearbook in my graduating year, I decided to build a 18×18 inch box in which students could sit inside of. This created a limited and consistent space allocated to each student, and encouraged them to show their personality through this small box. The images were compiled into a large grid of boxes packed together on one page to represent the Class of 2006 as a whole.
